Upgrade WorkPhone
When you update WorkPhone, the app will fetch the existing SIP device information and open as normal without requiring a log in. If you simply the installer to update, the WorkPhone app will load with the same device and will keep your contacts and call history.
Important
- IP Telecom recommends exporting your WorkPhone contacts into a .csv file before installing the latest version, in case you have to reinstall for any reason; Settings > Settings > Contacts > Export Contacts. If you do have to re-install, your contacts will be removed but you can simple import them again from the .csv file.
- If you are required to log in again or are doing a new WorkPhone install on a second device but already had a WorkPhone device under the same user you will get an option to Migrate or Create New (SIP device).
Create new
You should only Create a New SIP device if you are installing WorkPhone on a second device and want the option to use both. For example, you have WorkPhone on your laptop and you want to install it on Android, or a second laptop, or use the Web app.
- Install the WorkPhone app as normal
-
Choose "Create New" SIP account
-
A new device will be created automatically in the Smart PBX so you will have a total of two devices on the PBX.
- You can add new contacts in your second WorkPhone app or import contacts from a .csv file.
Migrate
You should only get the migrate option if you are installing WorkPhone on a replacement device.
Example 1:
You have WorkPhone for Windows 11 desktop and you get a new laptop. When you install WorkPhone on the new laptop, it will detect that your user has a device already for Windows 11 and will ask if you want to migrate the SIP information. In this case, your contacts will not be transferred to the new device but you will have only one SIP device on the PBX.
Example 2:
You have WorkPhone on Windows 11 but you temporarily want to use it on your Android. When you install WorkPhone on Android it will ask if you want to migrate your SIP device from your desktop version. In this case, your contacts will not be transferred to the second device but you will have only one SIP device on the PBX.
- Install the WorkPhone app on the new device
-
Choose "Migrate SIP Account"
-
Select the device that you want to migrate from
-
Confirm Yes, take over account
- The WorkPhone app on the original device will display No Account and you will not be able to make or receive calls.
- If you want to migrate back to the original device, open the original device and go to Settings > Advanced > Portal Account > Advanced > Migrate SIP account.

If you need to sign out of the hosted PBX account and log in again, follow these steps:
- Setting > Advanced > Portal Account > Advanced > Sign Out
- Your SIP account is removed from the device at this point
- Enter log in credentials to enable WorkPhone again
