Yealink - External Directory

IP Telecom do not provide an external contacts directory as part of the hosted PBX service. However, you can set this up according to your own unique network infrastructure.

Below is some guidance on how you can implement this yourself.

The Yealink phones XML Directory format is shown below:

    ```<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <YealinkIPPhoneBook>
      <Title>Yealink</Title>
      <Menu Name="Personnel">
        <Unit Name="ANDREW" Phone1="101" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="ANNE" Phone1="1615" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="ANN" Phone1="1633" Phone2="" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="BOARDROOM" Phone1="1604" Phone2="" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="Wesley" Phone1="" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="Kent" Phone1="1678" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="BREN" Phone1="1639" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="BERN" Phone1="1659" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="Office" Phone1="1623" Phone2="" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="CHARLES" Phone1="1701" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
        <Unit Name="CIARAN" Phone1="1702" Phone2="087xxxxxxx" Phone3="" default_photo="Resource:"/>
       </Menu>
       </YealinkIPPhoneBook>```
To use an external directory on your devices:
  1. Log in to the Yealink web interface, create any remote phone book entries and export the file.
  1. This file can be used as a template; replace the unwanted characters and then upload to your server.
  2. After you create the XML file and upload it to the HTTP server, you can then upload it to the phone.
  3. The phone must be pointed to the file on the HTTP server in the "Remote Phone Book Tab".
  4. After the file uploads, the entries are found under the soft key Devices > Directory > Remote Phone Book and select the phonebook name assigned as the display name.
