Updating your FRITZ!Box Modem
Use the following procedure to update your FRITZ!Box.
- Log in to your FRITZ!Box.
-
From the navigation on the left, select System > Update.
-
Click Find New FRITZ!OS.
-
The FRITZ!Box checks if an update for FRITZ!OS is available. Click Start Update Now.
CAUTION Do not disconnect FRITZ!Box from the computer during an update, and do not interrupt the power supply to the FRITZ!Box. If the update is interrupted, your FRITZ!Box might be irreparably damaged! -
The "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box starts flashing and the new FRITZ!OS is transmitted to the FRITZ!Box. The firmware update is complete when the "Info" LED stops flashing.
-
After downloading the new version from AMV, your FRITZ!Box disables your internet connection until the update is complete. The transmission has been completed when the following screen shows:
-
After the process completes, log in to your FRITZ!Box again.
-
The device will show if the update was successful. New firmware means that some of the device features or settings might have changed.
-
The FRITZ!Box will show the features that have changed and you can update settings for those features. Click OK when you have made your changes.
-
Go back to System > Updates. If you click "Find new FRITZ!OS" again, the page should tell you you are now on the latest version.
NOTE: If anything goes wrong during the upgrade the device will roll back to the previous version.
INTERNAL INFORMATION: For UDP Timeouts and TCP timeouts the FRITZ!Box holds very high values, but at least running VoIP wouldn't be an issue. Quote from AVM:
"To guarantee the security of devices in the FRITZ!Box home network and avoid internet performance issues, if no data is exchanged across a TCP connection for 15 minutes, or no data is exchanged across a UDP connection for 5 minutes, the FRITZ!Box automatically deletes the respective connection(s) from its NAT table ("NAT Timeout"). This means that all of the ports that were used by these connections are closed and the internet connection of the corresponding application is cleared."
